On Your Wedding Day

Here comes the bride, beautiful and bright.

I did something special as a mid-year break for myself, I flew from KK to Kuching to join a GB Officer's wedding. It was so sweet of Cindy to invite us personally with a sweet gift and we know that she really put much effort into inviting her guests to her wedding. 

So Jovie and I managed to get a good fare to fly over and I was so blessed to have a friend who let us stay in his condo at Riverine Sapphire R12-10 Unit, it was a lovely newly renovated condo and just nice to stay in for 2 nights.

Look at how many GB officers who flew in to join her wedding, not to mention her own friends from other parts of Malaysia.

During the Wedding ceremony, it was short and sweet. Here is the sermon of Cindy and Kenneth's wedding ceremony at Trinity Methodist Church, Kuching on 21 June 2019, 10 am. The sermon is entitled : Happily Ever After.

Last but not least, I would like to share the Marriage Recipe with you two, may you follow the recipe and have a great enriching experiences as a couple.

The Marriage Recipe:

1/2 lb good looks 

1lb sweet temper

1lb butter of youth

1lb blindness of faults

1lb of wit

1lb good humour

2lb of sweet argument

1 pint of rippling laughter

1 wine glass of common sense

a dash of modesty

Put the love good looks and a sweet temper into a well furnished house.

Beat the butter of youth into a cream,

and mix well together with the blindness of faults.

Stir the wit and good humour into the sweet argument

then add the rippling laughter and common sense.

Work the whole thing together until everything is well mixed,

and bake gently forever.

Enjoy the "marriage cake" forever!

How deep is your love

How deep is your love
lovers want to know
before they embark on
a life-long journey of loving and embrace
We just have to be sure
Because there is no turning back of time

No one tells us marriage is hard work
We have to work on it to make it works
The feelings The loving all can subside
Romance can be weathered off
It may not be lasting forever
The glorious feeling called love

As days turn to months and months to years
We have weathered off our relationship
We stay on because of commitment and ties
Many little mouths depend on us to do that
And we hope we be still in love
But How deep is your love

Some days marriage is lonely
Some days marriage is burdensome
Some days marriage is bitter sour
Hospital, funeral and taking care of elders
Tackling quarrelsome difficult children
Every minute on the clock is hard to pass

I caught you caring loving still
Life has to go on no matter what's the feel
Commitment is spelled with many 'M's
Moments after moments that's what we live for
I know the depth of your love
Locked up and deep within you

I love you to the core.
You are the core of my soul.
Though I don't feel top of the world
Everyday living here with you
But deep within  me I know
We are made for one another

I seldom express my love to my soul mate, as we journeyed this life together as partners in crime, companion for life. Once upon a time, when we were still young at heart, we used to write letters and cards, those sweet cards of greetings. But now, we just lost this habits when we got real busy with living. Nowadays, our love was spelled out in paying for bills, taking care things that we are expertise in, making sure the kids are not too rebellious.

How does one measure one's love ? Is it one cup full to the brim as called for in recipes ? Is it a credit free financial account for the family to use for kids' educations ? Is it counted by the speed of heart beats in tantrum to the rhythm of one another ? It is a bit of everything. One cannot be exactly sure which is which when it comes to how deep is the love for one another. 

But this much I do know, we have learnt to love one another out of nothing when we were still poor in finance and social status. We have chosen to love one another under the covenant of marriage, committed to life's ends, forsaking all others and love as deep as we can. We have purposed to love in all eternity under the celestial sphere of earth. In loving, we know there is only God who could love us more, in loving, we learn that we could not out-love what God has loved us with, the Agape Unconditional Love. Our love pales in comparison to the saviour's love for us. Our love dissolves like vapour in the chill of winter, our love is just few breadths of warmth compared to the heat of the sun. Our love is like mono hue of gray, in comparison to the full and rich colours of rainbow arrays.  

One day, when we finally reach heaven's shore, I hope we could still cherish our love on earth, I hope we are thankful for this romance that we have had, that we could say to one another, "Thank you for loving me and showing me what love can be. Your love has enriched my life, made my life complete and made me feel and understand the depth of God's love more! And yes, at the end of earthly life and at the start heavenly glory, I could say to you, "Darling, I have loved you to the core."".

Heart Matters

Today I learnt about Heart Matters, matters of the heart and heart that matters ! Confusing right ? Just before Valentine Day 2015, I get to put rights some wrong understanding of our heart. Heart matters are not for the weak, emotional group. It is vitally important to our well-being and how we live our day to day. In summary, this is what I have learnt about our heart.

Heart Over Mind - We have been raised to use our mind to rationalise our emotions. We were taught to let the mind to control our feelings. We thought the mind is the command center of our body and it gives out commands and all the body members align to those commands. Well, the command center is actually the  heart. From the heart, all things happen. That is where it starts.

Heart has emotions - The heart determines our emotions. Emotions are important indicators of our true beliefs. Our true colours or true self is often seen during the extreme trial in our life. The true colour will show forth.

Heart Thinks and intends - Our heart is the inner core of us being, the very essence of living. It feels and thinks and decides how we could react in defense or embrace. It is the very heartbeat of our thought life ! Every content of our thoughts come from the heart.

Heart has memory - when we get hurt emotionally, our heart is broken, our heart grieves and it remembers the hurt. In defending our lives from more hurt, our heart get harden in order to protect it from further hurt. When we keep a record of wrongs others done unto us, it is stored in the heart.  Therefore, we should guard our heart carefully. We should do heart detox to examine the conditions of our heart to prevent from further hurts. 

God looks at the Heart - Man looks at the outlooks while God looks at the heart. He is after those who have their hearts after Him. Outward appearance can be folly and we have seen amazing make-up that transform people! Looks can be deceiving. But what we are inside stays forever. At the end of life, at the end of a day, when all glamour gone, when there is no more music, what is at the core of our life, what is left is our heart conditions.

Heart purposes and decides  - The heart makes the decision. From the heart, we set our purpose, we decide and we act. Often, we think the mind is the one that decide but really it is the heart that first purpose and plot the actions to be taken. It set the course of our path. 

Heart could deceive us - Our heart could deceive us. A bad thought entertained by us, long time, it becomes a habit and possibly addiction. From the heart, we already committed offence. Being a moral beings will mean that the heart governs our moral orientation. The heart is the moral compass in our life.

God relates to us heart to heart. It is also heart matters to Him. He grieves in sorrow when we reject Him and choose our own paths. He could see the future suffering we will get ourselves. We get connected to God through our heart. As if our heart has a string and it is a tug between us and God, heart to heart via a heart string.
