Living under the foothill of Mountain Kinabalu makes us a special people group, a people that is spoiled for nature's glorious manifestation. Imagine living next to a huge mountain that towers almost to the sky, it is an icon, we could see it from afar. We see the sun and moon plays around the mountain, sometimes the moon forgot to go away after sunrise.
We made a Sunrise Journey up to the Mountain on a public holiday, just to spend some few hours enjoying the cool mountain and also the HotSpring.
We started at 5 am from Likas Jaya and the sun was just rising. It was a glorious morning.
Morning has broken, like the first morning.
This was my first trip to the Mountain after the 5 June earthquake, I could still see the scar on the Mountain.
A visit the Mountain is incomplete without a trip to the Hot Spring at Poring for a spa bath, even if just for the feet spa. The kids had a great time of cold and hot dips. They were in the water for like 2 hours.
Good grief, I just realised it, I am so Chinese, its almost all about food !
Yes, when I feel sad, when I feel down, I simply remember my favourite things and then I don't feel so bad !

This video is entitled "Epic Mt Kinabalu Climb Via Ferrata Low's Peak Circuit with Aerial Footage on 19 May 2014" taken by a local professional videographer. If there is anything that I can be truly proud of, this the Mountain of my birthplace. Tall and majestic, every view takes your breath away.
This video has the most details of the Mount Kinabalu Climb, the names of the pondok, waterfalls and places. Its a magical feeling to watch how others scaled the mountain. Such joyous triumphant of achievement !

Over fifteen tiny seconds

Nothing prepare us for it
Tempest roared and shook the mountain
Aki Nabulu was shaken
In a while, the mountain was rocking
Never again the same
Kinabalu was awaken from her deep sleep
Inside the earth turmoils boiled
Nothing like this ever told
Aki Nabalu was in great distress
Bare earth has fallen mountain is scarred

Lives so precious gone too soon

According to earthquake tracker website http://earthquaketrack.com/p/malaysia/biggest, whose data is taken from the US Geological Survey (USGS), this morning's 5.9 / 6.0 Richter Ranau earthquake is apparently the second strongest to ever hit Malaysia, and the joint 27th strongest ever to hit the region. The strongest ever is the 6.2 Richter Lahad Datu quake of 1976. Note : another report said the 1976 quake was a 5.8.
Please don't cause unnecessary alarm by taking photos of quakes from other countries and then claiming they're due to this quake. One photo I saw is of a damaged road due to a quake in Myanmar in March 2011.
