According to earthquake tracker website
http://earthquaketrack.com/p/malaysia/biggest, whose data is taken from the US Geological Survey (USGS), this morning's 5.9 / 6.0 Richter Ranau earthquake is apparently the second strongest to ever hit Malaysia, and the joint 27th strongest ever to hit the region. The strongest ever is the 6.2 Richter Lahad Datu quake of 1976. Note : another report said the 1976 quake was a 5.8.

Please don't cause unnecessary alarm by taking photos of quakes from other countries and then claiming they're due to this quake. One photo I saw is of a damaged road due to a quake in Myanmar in March 2011.
