Seven Years by Lukas Graham

This song is much better than most of the Top of the Chart songs for a long long time. Especially at this time (first quarter of 2016), both Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself" and Selena Gomez's "Same Old Love" came out at the same, some time after their break off.

At least, in this song, we could hear some family values being sung out in a song. The fact he could recall what his mum and dad told him when he was seven years old speaks volume of his legacy heritage from his parents. At least, he has respect for them and still wrote a song in memory of them.

In Lukas' word, the song has two lyrical themes—loneliness and family. Throughout the song, Lukas pushes against loneliness by attempting to remember and heed his parents' advice.

Friends are the family you choose to keep in your life. And you’ve got the friends that are there since childhood to back you up. But a good friend can walk into your life from nowhere, too.

He ends off by going back to the beginning of the song. It’s very reminiscent. That single incident when he was 7 years old stuck with him for the rest of his life and shows that he holds the advice his mother gave him very close to his heart. When he reflects on his life and thinks about all the events that took him to where he is now, that moment at 7 years is a starting point, a point where he became more conscious of realities and expectations in life.

Enjoy life because you cant go back. He is stating that he lived and we should to live wild.

7 Years by Lukas Graham. "A mix of Christiania, Copenhagen and Los Angeles is combined to give you a beautiful imagery to help the song along. I really hope you like it." - Lukas Graham

The wordings are encouraging.

Original Lyrics:
Once I was seven years old my mama told me,
Go make yourself some friends or you'll be lonely
Once I was seven years old

It was a big, big world but we thought we were bigger
Pushing each other to the limits, we were learning quicker
By eleven smoking herb and drinking burning liquor
Never rich so we were out to make that steady figure

Once I was eleven years old my daddy told me,
Go get yourself a wife or you'll be lonely
Once I was eleven years old

I always had that dream like my daddy before me
So I started writing songs, I started writing stories
Something about that glory just always seemed to bore me
‘Cause only those I really love will ever really know me

Once I was twenty years old my story got told
Before the morning sun when life was lonely
Once I was twenty years old

I only see my goals I don't believe in failure
‘Cause I know the smallest voices they can make it major
I got my boys with me, at least those in favor
And if we don't meet before I leave I hope I'll see you later

Once I was twenty years old my story got told
I waswriting 'bout everything I saw before me
Once I was twenty years old

Soon we'll be thirty years old, our songs have been sold
We'vetraveled around the world and we're still roaming
Soon we'll be thirty years old

I'm still learning about life, my woman brought children for me
So I can sing them all my songs and I can tell them stories
Most of my boys are with me, some are still out seeking glory
And some I had to leave behind, my brother I'm still sorry

Soon I'll be sixty years old, my daddy got sixty-one
Remember life and then your life becomes a better one
I made a man so happy when I wrote a letter once
I hope my children come and visit once or twice a month

Soon I'll be sixty years old, will I think the world is cold
Or will I have a lot of children who can warm me
Soon I'll be sixty years old
