10000 Reasons

My Land by The Celtic Thunder

"My Land" by Celtic Thunder

How green are your valleys, how blue your great skies,
Your mountains stand tall in their glory:
Your rivers run free - the bright stars are your eyes,
Your beauty is endless before me.

[Chorus:]
Oh, you are the song ever singing in me,
And you are the heart ever true:
For, you are my land and you always will be,
The voice ever calling me… home to you.

When times we are far from your forests and streams,
When sailing from your shining waters:
We carry your hopes - your spirit, your dreams-
In the hearts of your sons and your daughters.

[Chorus]

When to your green valleys some day I return,
When you lay your mantle around me:
At rest I will be where the heart will not yearn,
With my land to ever…surround me.

[Chorus]

The voice ever calling me…home to you.

Psalm 30 - Joy Comes in the morning

Psalm 30 King James Version (KJV)

30 I will extol thee, O Lord; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.
2 O Lord my God, I cried unto thee, and thou hast healed me.
3 O Lord, thou hast brought up my soul from the grave: thou hast kept me alive, that I should not go down to the pit.
4 Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
5 For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.
6 And in my prosperity I said, I shall never be moved.
7 Lord, by thy favour thou hast made my mountain to stand strong: thou didst hide thy face, and I was troubled.
8 I cried to thee, O Lord; and unto the Lord I made supplication.
9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth?
10 Hear, O Lord, and have mercy upon me: Lord, be thou my helper.
11 Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness;
12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Psalm 30 The Message (MSG)
A David Psalm

30 I give you all the credit, God—
    you got me out of that mess,
    you didn’t let my foes gloat.
2-3 God, my God, I yelled for help
    and you put me together.
God, you pulled me out of the grave,
    gave me another chance at life
    when I was down-and-out.
4-5 All you saints! Sing your hearts out to God!
    Thank him to his face!
He gets angry once in a while, but across
    a lifetime there is only love.
The nights of crying your eyes out
    give way to days of laughter.
6-7 When things were going great
    I crowed, “I’ve got it made.
I’m God’s favorite.
    He made me king of the mountain.”
Then you looked the other way
    and I fell to pieces.
8-10 I called out to you, God;
    I laid my case before you:
“Can you sell me for a profit when I’m dead?
    auction me off at a cemetery yard sale?
When I’m ‘dust to dust’ my songs
    and stories of you won’t sell.
So listen! and be kind!
    Help me out of this!”
11-12 You did it: you changed wild lament
    into whirling dance;
You ripped off my black mourning band
    and decked me with wildflowers.
I’m about to burst with song;
    I can’t keep quiet about you.
God, my God,
    I can’t thank you enough.

A Confession Obituary

On 8 June 2016, a Singaporean Businessman passed away and during his final days, he has asked his son to write down his own Obituary written in first person. Such honest confession and such wit, his words would cause stir in anyone. It is quite amazing.

Psalm 27 Special Plead for life

Psalm 27

The Lord is my light and my salvation,
Whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the strength of my life,
of whom shall I be afraid?
Though a multitude of demons rise up within me,
my heart shall not fear.
Though doubts and guilt do battle,
yet shall I remain confident.

One thing have I asked of the Lord,
that I shall ever seek: that I might dwell
in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
to behold the beauty of my Beloved,
and to know the Lord’s plan.
For I shall hide in the Lord’s heart
In the day of trouble,
As in a tent in the desert,
Away from the noise of my fears.

And I shall rise above struggles, my pai,
shouting blessings of gratitude in the Lord’s heart,
and singing melodies of praise to my Beloved.

Hear, O my Lord, when I cry aloud,
be gracious and answer me!
You have said, “Seek my face.”
My heart responds, “Your face, my Beloved, do I seek;
hide not your face from me.”
Do not turn from me,
You who have been my refuge.
Enfold me in your strong arms,
O Blessed One.

Though my father and mother may not understand me,
You, my Beloved, know me and love me.
Teach me to love, as You are Love;
lead me through each fear;
hold my hand as I walk through valleys of doubt each day,
that I may know Your peace.
I believe that I shall know the realm of Heaven,
of Love, here on earth!
Wait for the Beloved,
be strong with courage of the heart;
Yes! Wait for the Beloved of your heart!

When life gives you a lemon

When life gives you a lemon
What can we really do ?
To object life is sour and unfair ?
To fight for our rights to get the right fruit ?
To voice our grivance on social media ?
To ask for sympathy from our close friends ?

To accept it and drink it down as sour portion ?
To make it into something happy and yummy ?
Cook it and make it delicious dish ?
Make it into a Lemon Juice drink ?
Drink and ponder what it  means to be sour ?
Have it as a health tonic for detox ?

When we are sour in life, things look so different and sadness strike.
Should we remain sour or make good use of the sour state ?
Life is what we make out of it and not what it gives to us.
Ultimately our attitude will determine our success in life
Attitude will decide if we live a happy life
So make the right choice today

To rest is to walk further 休息是为了走更长远的路

To rest is to allow one to walk further 休息是为了走更长远的路

I first heard of this phrase in Chinese : "休息是为了走更长远的路", it means to rest is to allow one to walk further. We are not machines and not robots but yet, we work and treat our bodies like one. We rush through daily routines, rush through weekends of packed acitvities and functions, rush through the coming week again and repeat itself. As if, life is a cycle of

RUSH, SLEEP, RUSH, REPEAT !

In between rushing, there are sometimes, no pause. So sad. Sleep is reduced to just quick nap or short nap even for the nights.

Until one day, insomia and other body sickness appear, then one come to a realisation that we are not immortal ! Why have we been living as if we are immortal beings ? Who gave and sold that idea to us ? Ourselves ! We have ourselves to blame for being such rush-ians !

Personal Reflection:-

To rest is to allow one to walk further 休息是为了走更长远的路

This has been a constant reminder and encouragement for me to take a break and not feel guilty about it. This has served as a constant reminder that we are dispensable and the world could go on without us. When there is a need to crave out a me-time, me-day or me-week, there is no need to feel bad about it, our family and work can go on fine without our direct involvement.

Often in life, the "Airline Oxygen Mask Strategy" is applicable. We cannot serve from nothing. It is totally not selfish to put on the oxygen mask on ourselves first before we help other to get the masks. This is not called selfish. If we do not take care of ourselves and keep serving others without "refill", soon we will be serving from empty. In the long run, it is irresponsible for us as parents, leaders and bosses to run around without taking care of ourselves and keep doing things and helping others from "empty". By emptying ourselves, we may push ourselves too far and in the end, it is a lose-lose situat ion where our people will lose us.
