Extreme Weight Loss Story of Mayra Rosales

From morbidly obese and bed-ridden, transformed by many years of surgeries and driven by strong determination to mother her sister's three children, Mayra made it to 80% weight loss, able to stand on  her feet and doing well. Her sister is imprisoned until 2015 for 15 years' jail term guilty of killing her own son in 2008. Mayra rose to fame as she confessed falsely that she had accidentally harmed the nephew in order to cover for her sister's crime.

This is extreme weight loss, make over story I have ever heard.

According to Wikipedia, her name is Mayra Lizbeth Rosales born in 1980. She holds the record of being the heaviest living people in the world when she weighed 470 Kg (1036 lb) but that was the story before. After her extreme weight loss make over, she currently weights 91 Kg (200 lb).

In her own words, she said she felt trapped in  her own body as prisoner.

The stress of the case caused Mayra's health to deteriorate to the point that she had to be admitted to a hospital for the super-obese. When a regular ambulance was too small to transport her, a removal truck had to be used.
‘I began retaining more water in my legs and they got so hard,’ she said.
‘The skin is so stretched out that it hurts. It feels like my legs are going to pop like a balloon.
'Sometimes the sores open up and water oozes out. I wondered if we should amputate.'
She added: 'Sometimes I got mad. I tried not to show it that much because I didn’t want anyone feeling bad for me.
'It was like I was in prison, with chains holding me there so I couldn’t move.’

A special treat

Learning Greek Mythology in Germany

I did not expect to learn so much about Greek in Germany. But I did.

My Greek knowledge increased after my visit to the Greek Museum at Munich.

Most beautiful castle I ever visited

Our friend in Germany took us to visit this most beautiful castle I ever visited in my life !

At the end of the tour, there was no princess stories or fairy tales, it was simply the fantasy of King Ludwig II, living in his dreamy world of medieval time when it was the end of 19th century. How very sad but the result was magnificent piece of artwork and astonishing architectural masterpiece.

Saddest Museum ever visited

There is something unique about this museum, from the ingenious architectural designs (external and interior), every single display windows stories, even walls, floors, windows are designed intentionally as non-geometrically conforming, the most important part the experiences one will feel which will be entirely unique yet entirely true to one individual's imagination. This is not the museum for the faint hearted, neither is it for those who do not believe anything in history worthy to recall in memory especially a dark age and evil sins of men. Yet to recall, we must. For the survival of the future generations that they may never ever have to deal with a situation as grave as this.

I shed tears at the FIRST display window at this museum, I never cried so much in museum, in fact none at all, but the tender stories of each display window shook me to the core, the brutal reality of evil truiumph over the entire nations and resulting in the killing of 6 millions Jews. How could this has happened ? Why did good men stay silent throughout the incidents ?

About flying and the fear of it

The irony of flying is we both love it and fear it, both at the same time.
When we take a flight, we are in total surrender, 100% reliance on the engineering team to check, repair and maintain the big bird; we also reply 100% on the pilot team to make sound and prompt accurate decision to continue, divert or intervene before it's too late.

As passengers, we are clients to the airline company, passenger on a destined flight number under a certain captain's commands. There is little that we can do other than pray and be alert if there is anything to be of concerned which we often will not know of, that will be worrying unnecessarily.

But without flying, we cannot be visiting places, learning new things, rekindling friendships and ties, learning how the big world actually was, is and is to be. Therefore, for the 21st century citizens, flying is just another mode of transport, safest and yet can be fearful for some.

When GermanWings Flight went down in the Alps on 24 March 10:35 am, at that same time, I was on flight MH1 bound for Kuala Lumpur from Heathrow, I was 10th hour into my journey, it was a choppy trip, the cloud was thick and the wind was strong, for the most part of the journey, it was shaking slightly but I was in total rest, exhaustion after 3 weeks traveling in suitcase and tight hotel room, away from home with much domestic cares dancing over my head but I was exhausted and slept almost 10 hours ! At that exact time, my flight would be

It is very sad to know an air tragedy to happen, although statistically airflight is the safest transportation mode in the world but when a plane clashed, often the survival rate is null or slim and they all perish together. It is very sad tragedy.

A trip to remember

Once in a while, we plan a trip as a treat to ourselves, to retreat, withdraw from the routine busy world, a chance to discover how dispensable are we from family, church and work ! It can be an unnerving experience to know that you can be done without, you are not needed !

But to retreat is to gather strength for new energy to charge forward, hopefully, leapfrog forward or bullet speed forward. If only....
